Toy Fair 2013: Hasbro Star Wars Black Six Inch Series One

This was probably one of the biggest announcements of the year thus far, and more than likely will be hard to top.  Of course it had been reported prior to Toy Fair that Hasbro was releasing a six-inch scale line of Star Wars figures under the label Star Wars Black.  The reveal showed off Luke in X-Wing gear and hinted that the rest of the series would contain Darth Maul, R2-D2, and the Sandtrooper.

I was a little conflicted over the whole announcement as I wrote in my thoughts prior.  In working through that I realized my problem was less with the toys and more with Disney owning Lucasfilm.  I felt the way about the six-inch line as I do an easy pop such as a performer saying the town he’s in “rocks the most.”  In the end I was really more annoyed with Disney and took a “wait and see” approach to these figures.  Well, while I’m not going to get them all, you better believe I will pick up that Sandtrooper.  Check out the press images from Hasbro for the first series of Star Wars Black Six Inch.

I think the Darth Maul looks fine but feels like a blown up 3 3/4″ figure.  Plus I am kind of burnt out on the Darth Maul still after all these years.  R2-D2 looks great but I don’t see myself pay twenty for him.  The Sandtrooper I most certainly will own and I do hope Hasbro packs him heavy in the cases.

Also hinted at was a Boba Fett with Han in Carbonite San Diego Comic Con exclusive … which reminds me that I will need to start working on the SDCC 2013 exclusive list soon.  Yep, a Boba Fett SDCC exclusive is going to drive people nuts.  And Hasbrotoyshop is not always the most reliable place to get the exclusives, but lets worry about that come July.
