Toy Fair 2013: Playmates TMNT

I learned something from this year being my first Toy Fair, that I need to schedule appointments with vendors well in advance.  Thankfully Playmates was very accommodating and showed me around their booth anyway so I could see what was up with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line.  I was told that this year was “all about the ooze.”  Yes the ooze appears to be back and they have perfected the formula so that it does not stick, stain, or cause any other crazy side effects.  The figures are made to fling ooze, the vehicles are made to shoot them, and even the HUGE sewer playset has a spot for ooze play.

The big thing I wanted to see was Rocksteady and Bebop from the Classics line.  I had seen many pictures of the duo straight on but never saw a good side shot of the characters.  Well I got to see them in person and I think they are perfect!  I don’t own any of the Classic turtles because their size bothers me, but Bebop and Rocksteady will be purchases for me.

I’m pretty sure a lot of the Nick TMNT figures have been seen before such as the Rat King, Mousers, and Mini Turtles.  They had a couple new guys as well such as a huge red and black bug, Splinter in hockey gear, and something else.  My tour guide didn’t know their names either since they are new, so I don’t feel too bad about not knowing them.  The Nick series has a great selection of villains coming our way so its great to see that universe flesh out.  There will also be a new Shellraiser this year that will be remote control and shoot pizzas.  And following the fold-out turtles hideout playset comes a Shredder pizza box playset.

Looks to be a good year for TMNT, check out the gallery of all our pictures below:
