TMNT Out of Shadows Bebop with Warthog Trike Review

TMNT Out of the Shadows Bebop with Warthog Trike Review

I have not had the chance to see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows movie of yet.  Having a newborn, this is about what I expected to happen.  I usually don’t see the inner workings of a movie theater for a better part of that first year.  At that point we finally start feeling comfortable either leaving the kids with other people, or just end up taking them along with us.  Thankfully, these days movies end up on DVD like two months later so I won’t stay in the shadows for too long!

So Playmates has built an entire line around the vast cast of the new movie.  Included in this line are the two fan-favorite villains Bebop and Rocksteady.  What’s most exciting about these two is how faithful their look is to the source material.  I hold nothing against Tokka and Rahzar, but Bebop and Rocksteady were the original gangsters.  And it’s pretty damn exciting to see the two of them on shelves again!

What we have here is a deluxe two-pack of sorts.  You get an exclusive version of Bebop along with the Warthog Trike.  The difference between this Bebop and the single carded version is that this one’s head sculpt is different.  He has a leather riding cap on.  Bebop also includes a couple of accessories including a chain whip and crowbar.

As good as Bebop is, the real draw of this set is the bike.  It’s a really nice bike custom made for Bebop with some great sculpted details and actual working wheels.  It also has two missiles that can be launched out of the cannons in the rear of the motorcycle.  The missiles take a little extra muscle to fully load into the spring action barrels, but once they are in they really fly when launched.  I was actually surprised how strong those cannons actually are!  More than once I launched them into the abyss that is my kids’ playroom, frightened that I’d never find them again among the mess.

Bebop’s motorcycle is a great vehicle that works seamlessly with the rest of Playmates’ TMNT line.  Soft plastic is used for the handlebars so it’s easy to adjust and let other figures in the line hold them.  I was even able to have Metalhead steal the bike!

While the plastic is soft it doesn’t feel cheap.  It’s a well constructed bike made for a kid to play around with, but looks nice enough to display on any collector’s shelf.  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows toy line is currently in stores and online.  At a MSRP of $20 you are getting a solid deal with this set, I’d suggest grabbing it off Amazon if you haven’t seen it in stores.  They also have a Rocksteady if you want to get the pair.  And why wouldn’t you get Rocksteady?  After all he’s only played by WWE Superstar Sheamus!  It’s like a wrestling and TMNT figure all-in-one!
