Preternia’s Review Advent Calendar 2016 Day Ten:
Hasbro Marvel Legends Sandman BAF Series All New, All Different Spider-Man 2099

It’s pretty cool that both Spider-UK and All New, All Different (ANAD) Spider-Man 2099 were afforded completely new bodies. Miguel’s new mold certainly feels like a great alternate to the often-used Bucky Cap one. The biggest upgrades look to be the swing joints that connect the chest to the shoulder balls and larger feet. One thing that has always bugged me about the Bucky Cap mold was that the feet just felt a little too small. ANAD Spider-Man 2099 appears to bridge the gap between the lean Spider-Man body and Bucky Cap.

ANAD Spider-Man 2099 only comes packed with Sandman’s right arm. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the all new sculpt. However, a unique Spider-Man variant like this could really benefit from a few additional sets of hands. I can’t swap out another Spidey’s hands since none of them have the black, red, and white color scheme. At least some open handed ‘claws‘ would be good enough for me, similar to the ones that came with the Hobgoblin wave’s version.

Hasbro used a really striking metallic red paint for the accents on Spider-Man’s costume. For as busy his suit is, the paint is surprisingly clean. Figures that have large areas of white always run that risk of attracting paint slop, but ANAD Spider-Man 2099 looks very sharp from head to toe.

This certainly wasn’t a figure I was asking for, or even knew about. I had to look him up when he was announced, and was shocked that they were bringing back Spider-Man 2099 in an all new outfit. The new body is the big selling point with this guy. It’s a pretty giant improvement over the body used for the previous Spider-Man 2099. I’d almost prefer they went back and did him again now. However, Hasbro needs to start accessorizing their Spider-Men. I’m not willing to accept just a Spider-Man variant packed with a build-a-figure part. They should at the very least include an extra pair of hands … we’re this deep in the Spider-Verse and deserve at least that much.

Final Verdict: Fun figure and new body, but suffers from lack of accessories. Very NAUGHTY!
