Toy Fair 2017: Mattel WWE

Mattel had a few surprises in store for us this year at their collector brand preview event for their World Wrestling Entertainment lines. Although I try to avoid partaking, I’ve always said that Mattel’s WWE group runs like a well oiled machine. They are constantly churning out product, and hitting those updated looks in an industry where costumes, people, and story lines are constantly changing.

First and foremost, Mattel wanted us to know that the biggest draw in the WWE will be getting a figure. Elite Goldberg is coming! And he’s so strong that regular steel chairs are beneath him. He wields giant office chairs! Oh, and apparently he will be the exclusive pack-in for a real-scale ring.

We had a surprise announcement of a Target exclusive NXT Takeover branded line of figures. This series looks to celebrate both talent in NXT and talent that has been on the NXT brand, labeling the boxes with the wrestler’s debut date. This series will include both Basic and Elite styled figures. They will also include parts to make the various colored “Bailey Buddies.”

Next up, the WWE Zombies are back! This time they’ve zombified A.J. Styles, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Sasha Banks, Brock Lesnar, and Stone Cold Steve Austin (yeah, he’s hard to tell but the knee-braces and smoking skull head give it away).

WWE Elite wave 49 was on display, which includes Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Randy Orton, Becky Lynch, Brutus Beefcake, and Apollo Crews.
