Marvel Legends Spider-Man Lizard Series Spider-Man Noir Review

Marvel Legends Spider-Man Lizard Series Spider-Man Noir Review

From the far reaches of the Spider-Verse, it’s the darkest Spider-Man since “Black Suit Spider-Man,Spider-Man Noir!

First off, I want to apologize to Spider-Man Noir’s jacket. Jacket, I was skeptical when they brought you back. You were a part of one of the worst bodies made for modern Marvel Legends, the Ultimates Nick Fury body. But the problem wasn’t you, it was what was what you were covering up. Now that I’ve seen the light (or dark, really) with Spider-Man Noir, I no longer fear for your future use. Besides being a little stiff, you are actually a pretty nice coat when supplemented with a decent base body. Little plastic coat, I’m sorry I ever doubted you!

When you are dealing with a character that is almost entirely black, sculpting counts quite a bit more. Hasbro did a pretty nice job repurposing the comic Star-Lord body and adding new parts such as the forearms and boots. Spider-Man has a nice bulk, but manages to stay very flexible. In addition to that, the masked head sculpt is killer! The arms can be annoying at times because they feel a bit too long, and they kind of get in the way when he isn’t in a gun-toting pose. This is why I feel like any character that has trigger fingers should include a set of fists for when they aren’t holding their guns.

Spider-Man Noir comes packed with two blaster pistols and Lizard’s arm. Blaster pistols? For a Spider-Man that is supposed to be from the 1930’s? Between this figure and Gwenpool I have a theory on why we have no realistic looking guns in this wave. Spider-Man’s demographics typically skew younger, so the licensor probably doesn’t want realistic looking guns packaged with anything branded as “Spider-Man.” Either that or Hasbro just wanted to go with blasters. I’ll have to spend some time looking through my accessory bins for a nice set of guns for the guy.

Including a fedora would have been pretty neat too!

Would I recommend Hasbro Marvel Legends Lizard Series Spider-Man Noir?

I guess that depends on how much you are into alternate dimension Spider-Men. I’m down with Hasbro using the Spider-Verse story line to just inundate us with different Spider-Man variants. However, this better lead to a Spider-Ham sooner than later! Noir is definitely one of the least Spider-Man looking Spider-Men, so I understand how it can be off-putting to anyone that is not familiar with his comic.

He has an amazing head sculpt and a pretty solidly built body with some questionable accessories. After all is said and done I’d recommend this figure. If you have a Marv from Toy Biz’s Legendary Comic Book Heroes line, these two would probably work very well together. I also wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for any of the other Noir variants like Luke Cage or Weapon X.

    Maybe Deadpool, though…

  2. I wonder if the Onslaught red skull head fits that Noir body… for some reason, that body is BEGGING to be a Custom Red Skull
