It’s becoming a pretty steady indicator that when third-party companies start giving a specific character major love there is likely an official release right around the corner. We’ve seen it in the past with Inferno here, and most recently Megatron was announced shortly after Maketoys and DX9 got theirs to market. So I believe the moral of the story here is that it’s better to wait sometimes. Unless of course you like owning a few versions of the same character, then more power to you!

Last month I got Masterpiece Optimus Primal, and I thought it couldn’t possibly get better than that. I was wrong, it got way better! Inferno is an absolute delight. The most amazing part of his transformation is how his entire ladder gets packed up and folded into his chest, leaving none of it visible in robot mode. Everybody should complete his transformation from truck to robot just once, it’s that satisfying.

Not only is Inferno a big chunky robot with an amazing transformation, but he also comes with a whole mess of accessories. He includes three additional face plates, an alternate crown, two alternate front grills, two communicators, two arm hoses, a gun, a fire hose, and a squirting water effect. Takara really went out of their way to homage both the cartoon and the toy. The chest designed to hold Red Alert is adorable. I don’t think it’s a pose I’ll have him in too often, but it did give me a reason to finally open up my anime colored Red Alert.

Also, get your head out of the gutter. His water stream attachment looks like a huge gush of water and nothing else!

I can’t say a bad thing about Inferno, he’s just about as perfect a representation of the character as I could ever want. Takara has been on a complete tear with their Masterpiece Transformers. The huge amount of accessories and alternate parts make every release a new adventure. Thankfully we get a month off to enjoy and digest the glory that is Inferno. Then come January we have our next Masterpiece Beast Wars release with Cheetor.

It’s probably best to import Inferno, but if you feel better using Amazon their prices can be decent as well.

Final Verdict: VERY NICE!things-to-do-between-christmas-and-new-year-s-what-s-up-amsterdam-4owu6g-clipart
