Quick Review: Star Wars Black 6-Inch Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) Target Exclusive

Quick Review: Star Wars Black 6-Inch Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) Target Exclusive

I honestly don’t remember when Bespin Escape Princess Leia was announced. I recall that we are getting Hoth Leia in the mainline (and in an international two-pack that includes Han), which is essentially the Bespin escape look with a vest, new boots, and a different hairdo. With all of the tooling pretty much done for this look, I suppose that the easy Target exclusive makes sense!

It seems like this one just started showing up at Targets one day, and that’s fine with me. Face printing has got its hooks firmly clenched around my wallet, and I’ll throw all the money I have at these great Star Wars likenesses! This is definitely the first Leia in the six-inch line that I don’t have to sit and convince myself that it looks like Carrie Fisher. The head sculpt and face print is spot on, they finally figured out her likeness, well done!

So while she has a great likeness, there isn’t too much else here. Her entire body is molded in white plastic with no paint needed (white on white photography, though, I need some work there). The sculpt of her jumpsuit is really nice, however. There is a ton of design and line detail carved into her outfit. She also comes with a blaster rifle and a trigger finger on her right hand to hold it.

Hasbro did pretty well with the scale here, keeping her height about a head shorter than most other characters. I’d love to get some shots with her and Han, but sadly both my SDCC and mainline versions are in storage hell currently.

Would I suggest the Star Wars Black 6-Inch Bespin Escape Princess Leia?

Of course! Not only do you get a great face print, but your Bespin Han Solo has a friend as well.

Leia is starting to trickle out to Target stores as we speak. I’ve heard of some people discovering them on the shelves. However, in my case, I had to ask customer service if they could bring one out from the back (if you plan to do this, use this DPCI number to help them locate it: 087-16-0133). Target is really getting some great exclusives this year: Gamorrean Guard, Molach, and now Leia. There are also rumors of a General Grievous deluxe; my prequel loving heart really hopes that one is true.

Leia will run you about $20, which I believe is totally fair. Happy hunting!
