Toy Fair 2019: Super7 Expands “Classics” Action Figures to He-Man Movie, Toxic Crusader, TMNT, and More

They finally did it! Super7 was able to do what Mattel could not in eight years of Masters of the Universe Classics, make action figures from the 1987 “Masters of the Universe” movie. Yes, I’m aware Blade, Gwildor, and Saurod already exists but they are in a weird zone where Mattel was allowed to make them because they had a vintage toy. Now we have quite a larger movie cast as Dolph Lundgren He-Man, Frank Langella Skeletor, Golden God Skeletor, and Robert Towers Karg with correct movie colors will happen!

The Super7 1987 “Masters of the Universe” wave will go up for preorder in March 2019, so keep an eye out for more news on that.

We also got a look at the latest wave of Club Grayskull (Filmation) characters. The preorder period for these just ended at the end of January 2019. Prince Adam, Roboto, Modulok, Kittrina, Shadow Weaver, and Stratos are expected to ship later this year.

Toy Fair 2019 MOTUC Snake Mountain Super7

In other Masters of the Universe news, SNAKE MOUNTAIN IS HAPPENING! Or at the very least, Super7 will begin taking preorders for the behemoth playset in May 2019. The set is looking to cost $600, which is a substantial chunk of change. However, Brian Flynn from Super7 did say in a Pixel Dan interview that they will offer payment plans in order to lessen the financial sting.

One of the most exciting takeaways from Toy Fair this year is that Super7 plans to commandeer the Masters of the Universe Classics body for other properties. On display they had Four Horsemen sculpts for Conan, Voltron, Toxie, and a placard that said Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming as well! Ren and Stimpy were also shown, and while I’m not sure they are exactly within the “Classics” style, they still look great with lots of parts and accessories.

This was something we spent years telling Mattel we wanted. With Masters of the Universe Classics being so long in the tooth, I think this is a very smart decision and will keep people coming back for more. Especially if MOTUC ends. Plus, that Toxie looks incredible! I’m in for him and any variants they have planned. We were told we should see their TMNT figures around San Diego Comic Convention, and if we’re being honest, the thought of Classics-style Turtles is even more exciting than what I’ve seen from NECA.
