Tamashii Nations: Bandai S.H.MonsterArts Gamera -Rebirth- (2023) Gamera

Gamera day was allegedly a day or two ago, it would have been cool to post this on his big day but alas timing has never been one of my strong points. Bandai’s latest Gamera, from the 2023 Netflix animated series Gamera -Rebirth- is one of the latest installments in the S.H.MonsterArts line.

I think what it boils down to here is that they made a nice thick Gamera that will seamlessly fit in with your MonsterArts Kaiju collection. Being born of animation isn’t instantly obvious here as they didn’t use cel-shading or any stylized details like that. If I hadn’t known about the Netflix series I’d have assumed Rebirth was just another movie. I really enjoy the thicker design. Compared to the Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris version that came out a few months ago, the wide frame and glowing inner shell really edge the Rebirth version over the top for me. It’s just a really nice piece, if you are into flying turtles you won’t be disappointed.
