Review Advent Calendar Day 9: Marvel Legends Sandman Series Jackal

In the last couple years we’ve gotten most of the players in Spider-Man’s ‘Clone Saga‘ story line. So it only seems fitting that we would eventually get around to the guy that started it all, Professor Miles Warren. Better known as the Jackal.

Hasbro Marvel Legends Sandman BAF Series Jackal

Jackal finally makes his Marvel Legends debut in 2017’s first Spider-Man wave that, of course, has already been hitting stores in December of 2016. That’s okay though, I’m still counting this wave as a 2017 release, so no top ten lists will be compromised! The Jackal is a special boy because he was deserving of a completely new sculpt! This all new lean-furry body is highly detailed and looks fantastic.

This new body is also amazing to pose! I like the look of Jackal and appreciate his place in Spider-Man history, but he was never something I’d have thought to ask for. He really surprised me. He’s very expressive, not only in his facial sculpt, but the range of motion in his articulation scheme is just a pleasure to mess around with. Jackal’s body is slim, extremely agile, and can give the Pizza Spidey buck a run for its money.

Jackal only comes packed with Sandman’s left leg and that’s it. No real accessories for Miles Warren. That doesn’t really bug me because I can’t really think up anything he absolutely must have. I suppose it makes the figure look less like a value, but he’s also a 100% new sculpt. So that should make up for it a bit.

Now can this body be used for anyone else? I’ve seen quite a few people mention Beast, however, I really feel that this body is way too slim to work for that character. Beast certainly doesn’t have the be the hulking giant he was in the early Toy Biz days, but he needs a little more meat on his bones. I’m sure that Hasbro’s Marvel Legend team can dig up some obscure character in order to use this body again.

Jackal was a surprise for me in this wave. I didn’t have much in the way of expectations for him, but now that I have him in my hands he blows me away! He’s a solidly executed character getting his first Marvel Legends action figure. If you are looking to grab one I’d suggest Amazon for singles, or Entertainment Earth for case packs.

Final Verdict: Surprisingly NICE!
