Quick Look #3: Nota Studio Spider-Gwen Head for Hasbro Marvel Legends or Revoltech

Quick Look #3: Nota Studio Spider-Gwen Head for Hasbro Marvel Legends or Revoltech

It’s a bit sad that Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line never really gave much love to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Sure, there was the kid-themed line, but all Marvel Legends got was a really low effort Target exclusive two-pack that included slight repaints of Gwen and Miles. Gwen included the unmasked, more traditional Gwen Stacy head that we got in the single-packed release. Unfortunately, she looked nothing like that in the movie.

This year came and went with nothing Spider-Verse announced from Hasbro, which is a real shame. At the very least Medicom is currently in production of very screen accurate Miles Morales and Peter B. Parker MAFEX figures. Now that I have these two guys on preorder, it’s time to look to the future and what else I can do to bolster my Spider-Verse collection.

Enter Nota Studio. Get it? Not a Studio. Eh? Whatever, it amused me for five seconds. Nota Studio makes some really cool stuff. Just search their name out on eBay, Google, or Bing and fawn over their heads and accessory sets. I dabble in the “third party” add-on scene from time to time, but this is easily the most professional head I’ve ever purchased. First off, it comes shipped in a lovely round tin with a see-through top.

Typically, custom heads I’ve bought in the past were made with ceramic, resin, or some kind of fragile material, but not this one! This appears to be plastic, just like the rest of the figure. I have no fear of chipping off paint or part of the sculpt. It’s wild how good this is. Instead of requiring Blu Tack to keep the head in place, a cylinder-shaped part is included which fits perfectly into the Marvel Legends neck peg. From there, all you need to do is slide the head overtop and everything fits great! The neck adapter allows some room to slide the head up and down in order to find the most aesthetically pleasing neck length.

Gwen is made to work with both the Marvel Legends and Revoltech Spider-Gwen figures. I do not own the Revoltech, but if you do there is a whole neck part included as well.

Here are links to all compatible figures with this head, they are all links to Amazon so I wouldn’t necessarily buy them there but this is more of a point of reference:
Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Spider-Gwen
Marvel Legends Spider-Gwen (Original release which has different feet detailing)
Marvel Legends Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen Two-Pack (Probably the one to get if you can swing it since it has movie-accurate ballet slipper feet)

Would I suggest Nota Studio’s Spider-Gwen Head?

With any of this stuff, you run the risk of there eventually being an official product. However, if no official product hits, these small runs dry up and then prices can get a little wild. This is a crazy great upgrade for my Gwen figure, just look at it up close because the subtle details are incredible. So if you don’t mind paying about $40, which is around what preorder and in stock prices were at release, I’d jump on it. I don’t really have any preferred store, but your best bet is to just check around eBay for something like “NOTA GWEN” and it should pop up.
