I still can’t believe people thought that Hasbro would eventually use the Jackal body to make a Beast figure. First of all, how dare you? That body is way too thin and would make the shittiest wrong Beast ever. Thankfully, Hank McCoy was revealed for the 2019 Caliban build-a-figure wave and all of that speculation has been put to rest. Instead, Jackal’s body gets used for a much more fitting character, Puma.
I get the impression that some people are sleeping on this wave due to the character selection. This is a big mistake. I’ve been impressed with all three of the figures I’ve reviewed so far. It’s impressive how deep we are getting into the Spider-Man character cast. If we can get Night Thrasher then Overdrive is absolutely a possibility. By 2020, I expect Hasbro to announce THE BIG WHEEL build-a-figure at Toy Fair.
First off, I love the way they packaged Puma so that it looks like he’s surfing on Kingpin’s giant, limbless torso. Unfortunately, his box posing also makes him slightly bow-legged. The endless struggle between fun box posing and the wellbeing of the figures inside continues on.
The thing I like most about Puma’s body is how low he can crouch down. He really utilizes a great body for “feral” type poses. The head sits a little high on the neck, but I believe this is to accommodate his ability to look up from a crouching position.
Would I suggest Marvel Legends Puma?
Same answer as my last two reviews, yes absolutely. Puma is neat. He’s on a really good Marvel Legends body that doesn’t get used very often. He also surfs on Kingpin’s body which is truly a sight to behold!
Puma is currently available to buy individually at Amazon, or if you need a case of the entire wave Entertainment Earth has you covered, dogg!
